NFL star Andre Johnson took underprivileged kids from the Harris County Department of Family and Protective Services on an 80-second shopping spree at Toys 'R' Us on Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported.
The Houston Texans receiver took 11 kids from the child protective services and let them pick out whatever toys they wanted at the toy store on his tab, and the bill reportedly came to a staggering US$16,266.66.
The shopping spree was the eighth time in eight years that Johnson spent time with less privileged children and treated them to holiday gifts.
The NFL star told the Houston Chronicle that the idea of "doing something for Christmas" just came to him one day while he was at home sitting with his uncle.
"And he was just like, 'Have you ever thought about having kids go through Toys 'R' Us and get what they want?' And I was just like, 'Naw, I never really thought about that.'"
He added that it was his uncle who gave him the idea of giving the children 80 seconds to go around the store and just grab whatever they wanted.
"And I was like, 'That's not enough time.' And he was like, 'They can grab a lot'."
After the recent shopping spree, the kids, ranging from the ages of eight and sixteen, have proven that they really can grab a lot, based from the sizeable bill, and the toys they took, which included stuffed toys and memorabilia from the movie "Frozen," as well as Barbie's and WWE action figures.
"As a kid, to get to run through the store - get whatever you want - I'm pretty sure it's kind of breathtaking for them," the NFL star said.
Several Texans' dancers were also in attendance during the shopping spree and they helped out the children in picking out the toys and loading it up in the carts, according to the Chronicle.
Johnson's uncle was also present during the event, and helped out in watching the children and in updating them on how much time they had left.
When the shopping was done, the items had to be scanned at four different registers, at which point, Johnson asked his uncle to get back in the car because he left his wallet inside.
The bill was so huge that it even earned Johnson some gift cards from the store.
Meanwhile, in a interview with CBS, Johnson revealed that the Christmas gift that he wanted was to be able to be in the playoffs.
