Former Upper East Side Parking Garage is in the Market for $42M

The former parking garage at 177 E. 73rd St., that has its own curb cut, is for sale for a whopping price of $42.5 million. With the size of the area, a 40-foot-wide townhouse can be built from scratch on the Upper East Side lot.

According to the NY Post, Lee Stahl's The Renovated Home has plans to build in the area a 17,200-square-foot building with high ceilings, an eight-car garage, a home theater, and a basketball court. The cost of the building is estimated to be around $9 million.

The former parking garage on the Upper East Side, with signs such as "park" and "$7.60 per hour" on it, will be transformed into a townhouse.

The elegant five-level garage at 177 East 73rd Street is up for sale for $42.5 million, and would give the buyer the space to build a new structure on it from scratch. Though the parking space will surely be missed, another townhouse structure in the area is sure to garner residents. There are only about 14 mansions in the Upper East Side that are similar in size.

When the property was listed last May by Nikki Field of Sotheby's International, its asking price was $50 million. The current listing agent is Paula del Nuncio of Brown Harris Stevens, The Real Deal reported.

Meanwhile, an 11-storey, 31-unit project at 15 Renwick Street in Hudson Square will offer three spots in a private, roughly 1,000-square-foot garage. The garage offers a remote-controlled gate and a direct access to the lobby.

There are new developments in the city that include parking spots and other services, such as valets and private entrances to their places. One example is the SR Capital luxury condominium at 551 West 21st Street in Chelsea, which will add a private motor court with valet parking service, in addition to roughly 35 parking spaces.
