Wondering how to make a bare wall more stunning and colorful? Here are some wall art trends for this year.
According to the Pop Sugar, one of the wall art trends this year is blue art. Blue is attached to the words peaceful and relaxing, so it is no wonder why many people would prefer the color this year. UGallery gallery director Alex Farkas suggests that when looking for an artwork, it is best to look for something that has multiple shades of blue to add different tones inside the room.
Another art trend is street photography. In 2015, it was reported that the sales of street photography rose to 41 percent, and this can be attributed to the rise of social media. Many people are drawn to pieces which have emotional scenes just like what they would see on their Instagram feed.
Patterns will also be more popular this year despite the popularity of black and white pieces last year. When selecting a pattern piece, the site suggests considering the room where the artwork will be placed. Farkas said that patterned artwork works best on solid colored walls, and solid colored artwork is best on walls with patterned wall paper.
The Wall Street Journal also reports that scandinavian flat weaves will also be a trend this year because of the elegance and balance of the geometric compositions in it.
Lastly, nude art and sculptures have been predicted to be a growing trend this year. For nude art, it is important to keep in mind that not all nudes are perfect for all the spaces inside the home. A simple nude artwork could be perfect inside the bedroom or the bathroom. A large scale pop-inspired work can also give color in the entryway or the common area, as suggested by Farkas.
