'Samsung Galaxy A7' Release Date, Features & Specs: Premium Ultrathin Phone Coming Soon [Rumors]

Samsung looks to be preparing for another Galaxy phone to battle the massively successful Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Reports indicate that the Korean technology firm is gearing up to release a new device that has the metal frame of the Galaxy Alpha but with a much thinner design.

According to the Business Insider, the Samsung Galaxy A7 has been spotted in China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, reports blog Phone Arena. This will most likely lead to Samsung's announcement of yet another new smartphone design.

SamMobile reports that following a recent trip through the FCC, the Galaxy A7 has received certification through the TENAA.

Reports peg the ultra-slim phone to be just 6.3mm thick. As a basis of comparison, the newest Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in at 8.1mm and just half a millimeter thinner than the Galaxy Alpha.

Phone Arena shares that contrary to earlier intel, the new handset sports a 5.5-inch display, larger than the expected 5.2-inch. With a 1080p screen, the phone measures 150.9 x 75.9 x 6.3 mm making it Samsung's slimmest phone yet.

Additionally, The A7 is expected to have 16 GB of storage, 2 GB of memory and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragn 615 processor, writes Digital Trends. The site claims the device will most likely run on the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop but could also come prepacked with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

BI noted that typically, most high-end, luxury smartphones have four core processors so with twice the cores, in theory, Samsung's rumored device should be able to multitask easily, more so than its competition.

The A7 is believed to be the newest in Samsung's new A-series and based on specs, should be a more top-of-the-line device than the earlier released models, the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5.

Aside from these reports, Samsung as well as other official channels have remained mum on the said device. We will have to wait and see what other information will come along including other specs, prices as well as an estimated release date.

However, with the device already going through the authentication process there is no reason why interested consumers will have to wait long for an official announcement. It's expected that the A7 will make its debut in China shortly and will possibly be introduced to international markets immediately after.
