Paul Giamatti sold his co-op share in Brooklyn Heights to his ex-wife, Elizabeth Giamatti, for $1.1 million, as per documents filed in the city's Department of Finance.
According to property records, the home at 35 Pierrepont Street was bought by the couple in 2002. The property was simply transferred over to director and producer Elizabeth Giamatti, said the publicist for Giamatti.
The publicist added that the couple hasn't been married for over five years now. In fact, the transfer of the property follows less incredible rumors that divorce was on the horizon for the two. Some reports surfaced on websites and social media this week speculating a divorce, after Paul was spotted walking alone outside his home.
Property records show that Paul also owns a three-bedroom condo at 187 Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights, which he purchased for $1.3 million in 2010.
Paul stars in "Billions" as a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York who gets involved with a law-skirting hedge fund giant (played by Damian Lewis). Giamatti is also known for his role as the wine-loving writer in the movie "Sideways."
Although actor Paul Giamatti's fame only came in 2004 when he played a maladroit oenophile in the five-time Oscar nominated and one-time Oscar winning film "Sideways," he has long been around the Hollywood scene with various roles in movies such as Mighty Aphrodite, The Truman Show, Donnie Brasco, Cradle Will Rock, Saving Private Ryan, Big Momma's House, Big Fat Liar, Planet of the Apes, and in another Oscar nominated film, American Splendor.
In a little background check on the interweb, it was revealed that Paul Giamatti comes from a privileged family. It turned out that his father, A. Bartlett Giamatti, was not just a former professor of Renaissance Literature at Yale University, he was also the youngest president of the Yale University. The elder Giamatti was also appointed president of baseball's National League in 1986.
