Feng shui suggests that in order for you to attract good luck in your home this 2016, the Year of the Monkey, you don't need to make extreme purchases or renovations to do so.
According to master practitioner Jennifer Bonetto of Real Feng Shui SOULutions, feng shui is not about trinkets and items; all it takes is a simple de-cluttering and clearing out of spaces.
"A lot of people assume feng shui involves buying a bunch of complicated tchotchkes... they'll fill their house with this stuff and say, 'OK, I'm feng shui-ed!' but then they don't get results," she told Trulia.
Bonetto then recommended that in order for you to attract good luck in your home this 2016, it is important to give your front door a 6-foot clearance inside and outside. This means that items or furniture pieces must not be close to the door, as this obstructs the flow of energy into your home.
Placing potted plants at home is a common practice because plants are believed to foster vibrant energy at home, especially when placed on the balcony or patio. The color of your room and other items may also help attract luck this Year of the Monkey.
According to the publication, while red is commonly believed to be a lucky color in feng shui, painting your walls red may not be a wise choice.
"Depending on the direction of the home and what wall you paint red, it can actually be bad luck," she said.
Speaking of direction, About Home also listed several feng shui tips to do in specific areas and parts of your home.
The outlet noted that the Southwest area of your home has the auspicious Wealth star #8 that can help attract luck and wealth this 2016. In order to maximize this, you can decorate the Southwest area of your home with certain elements such as crystals or you can just simply clear the space from any clutter.
