Do you have tall windows and French doors at home? If you're planning to change the look of these items or thinking of ways on how you can increase your privacy, there's a quick way to do it. This home improvement is a cheaper option for the usual window treatments that are costly.
Annabel Vita, a "DYIer," found the best alternative to her privacy concern. Since French doors have designs where one can easily take a peek inside one's home, a DIY window film would surely help. On her site, Vita's concern is her bedroom with delectable shutters. She would often end up using traditional curtains for privacy reasons to cover the whole alcove. However, one day, her DYI skills worked and she thought of inventing her own frosted glass effect with lace.
"The shutters are great at blocking all natural light, which is great for lie-ins. But, this room gets crazy beautiful morning light and it always seemed a shame to be getting dressed in artificial light just for privacy," she wrote.
According to Yahoo Real Estate, Vita made a frosted glass effect with lace which is enough to prevent her neighbors from seeing the interior of her home. Although the windows are covered, it still allows natural light to pass through.
To start the project, she crafted a template that measures exactly the same as her window panes. Vita then put the lace over the template and cut eight squares. To attach it, she used a mixture of cornstarch and water to put the lace panels to the windows. She had an instant frosted glass that provides her with the privacy she needs, and didn't have to spend too much for it.
According to Vita, it is the quickest, easiest, and cheapest project she ever made. It can be easily removed by washing the windows with warm water.
