Millionaire couple, Norman Peires and his wife Lorna, has lose hope of selling their £4million mansion after Tess Daly and her husband Vernon Kay decided not purchase it because of the helicopter noise from a 100-year-old airfield.
The owners spent £1.5million in revamping Shepherds Holt, after they bought it in 2006. The six-bedroom mansion located in leafy Denham, Buckinghamshire, also has a relaxing garden but the disturbing noise of the helicopters from nearby Denham Aerodrome would disturb their relaxation.
Mrs. Peires, 69-year-old, told the High Court that they made the house in the way they wanted it and even want it to be their forever home but the noise would drive them crazy.
With that, they filed a complaint to the court because the "loud drumming and shattering" penetrates into the drawing room and master bedroom of the house even if they shut the double-glazed windows tightly. When they are on the extensive grounds of the house, the noise becomes even more "incredible."
The couple is suing Bickerton's Aerodrome Ltd, the owners of the 100-year-old airfield, claiming that they did not do enough to curtail the racket. They are looking forward to get a court order in restricting the noise or£700,000 compensation since the noise causes a great loss of their home's value.
"It becomes a situation where you don't hear any of the other things going on - just this activity. You have some peace and then you have this shattering noise - it's not like the smooth sound of a Triumph motorbike," Mr. Peires said according to Mail Online.
Real estate agents suggested that the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peires is valued at £4 million but because of the intrusive howl of helicopters, interested buyers are backing out.
Couple Tess Daly and Vernon Kay was very keen on buying the property but changed their mind when they stepped into the garden since they were "left horrified by the noise" as pointed out by Mr. Peires, Mirror reported.
Aside from the celebrity couple, TV sports broadcaster, Gabby Logan was also interested to buy the property but they pulled out when Mrs. Logan heard the noise while at the gate of the home.
