Super Bowl 50: Charlotte Better in Housing Affordability Compared to Denver

Charlotte beats Denver, not in the Super Bowl 50, but in housing affordability. Realtor.com knows how these two teams' cities measure up in housing.

The Queen City wins in terms of housing affordability with a median home price of only $227,000 - less than the price in Denver.

However, the housing market in Denver is even hotter, as it is powered by a booming economy. Homes in this city sell faster than the national average of 27 days, and it's quicker by 21 days than in Charlotte.

The housing inventory in Denver is quite tight. There were just about 5,000 properties for sale in December 2015 in the Mile High City area. While in Charlotte, with almost the same population as in Denver, it has almost three times as many homes available.

Homes in Charlotte uphold the gracious legacy of Southern living, and most homes there today still boast a traditional architectural style.

In the Rocky Mountains, Denver has many single-storey ranch homes with low-pitched roofs and wide facades. The median home size there is over 1,100 square feet, which is bigger than Charlotte's more modest homes.

In Denver, you will find a grand estate with a banquet-size dining room, dual master suites, and 12 fireplaces. This palatial property awaits a wealthy buyer with $27.7 million in his/her pocket to spare. In comparison, Charlotte's most expensive listing seems so affordable at about one-quarter of that price. This charming estate is worth $6.5 million, which comes with a gorgeous wine tasting room.

In anticipation of the match-up between Charlotte's Carolina Panthers and Denver's Broncos in the Super Bowl 50, there is an interesting comparison of the housing markets in these two cities.

In terms of housing affordability and housing inventory, it showed that Charlotte does indeed "destroy" Denver in the median list prices of homes, and the number of homes available in Charlotte is three times more than the availability of homes in Denver.
