Google Exec Maile Carnegie and Husband Buys $3.52M 3-story Beach Property

Google Australia head Maile Carnegie scores a getaway in the quiet beach side suburb.

Just this week, according to Twitter Australia, Twitter has opened its new office in 2 Park Street, Sydney with New South Wales Premier Mike Baird as the event VIP. In the same week, Bloomberg has also transferred to its new office at 120 Collins Street from 101 Collins and the opening was attended by former federal treasurer and current chair of the Future Fund Peter Costello.

But these two tech giants are not the only ones establishing presence in Sydney. According to Commercial Real Estate, Google Australia boss Maile Carnegie and her husband Charles has put $3.52 million on a Whale Beach three-story property. This new residence of two of the most powerful executives is expected to undergo major renovations but at the moment, the property boasts of its swimming pool as one of its cool amenities.

The property faces north and one of the only 12 private "cul-de-sac" spots on Malo Road. Neighbors include filmmaker George Miller and Macquarie Group chief Nicholas Moore.

While Maile Carnegie heads the Australian and New Zealand arm of Google, Charles Carnegie is the head of The Waypoint Group corporate advisory firm. He is also advisory board member to the Room to Read and The Nature Conservancy charity. The new Carnegie property, under Charles' name was purchased 36 years ago by the Hatty family for $180,000. The Beach Whale property was placed in the market last year with LJ Hooker Palm Beach's David Edwards.

In the meantime, Google's Australia office is located in 5/48 Pirrama Rd, Pyrmont NSW 2009. The couple's new property in Whale Beach up north is about two hours away. According to the Lonely Planet, Whale Beach is a northern beachside area in Sydney and is located 40 kilometers north of the Sydney's CBD. The place is known for its orange sand and popular among surfers and vacationing families.
