DIY Projects That Should NEVER Be Done at Home

DIY (Do It Yourself) is often a fun thing to do or watch in TV shows at home. While it may seem easy to do, several reports claim that there are some projects, which are best left to the experts. Which DIY projects should never be done at home?

According to Realtor, people often mistake DIY as an easy process because of the things they see on TV. However, it turns out that what you see on TV does not necessarily show every step behind the projects.

"Those TV shows don't show about 90% of what happens to complete a project," said Arthur Sadura, owner of T&A Carpentry and Home Renovations.

Sure, DIY projects can help save you money, but it does not mean that it will save you money in the long run. One of the things that homeowners should leave to the experts is anything related to electrical work.

"You shouldn't fool around with electric," Sadura said. "YouTube is a good source of electric tutorials. But a good rule of thumb is if your wires look different from what you're watching, abandon the project to avoid having to guess."

Faulty electric wiring is said to cause about 400 deaths per year, so playing around with your wires at home in hopes of saving costs from hiring a professional may cost you more down the road.

Tiling is also said to be another DIY home project, which is best given to the professionals. According to the publication, many people have the common notion that installing tiles is as easy as laying them out on the floor only to realize that the process is hard and requires intensive work.

Realty Today also reported on some of the most common mistakes that first-timers make when doing DIY projects at home.

First time DIY-ers must have these three things whenever starting out on a new project: patience, time and effort. It is also good to start on a small scale project first rather than going on a maximum scale so that you can practice your skills first before doing something, which you might regret later on.
