According to Salari, this year is all about the art of outdoor living, and it is important to create an outdoor space which is an extension of the home that will suit the homeowner's personal style and lifestyle.
One of the tips Salari gave in decorating patios is the furniture outside should incorporate the colors of the furniture inside the home. The Pantone colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, could also be used outside, and it has become a popular color theme for backyards.
Neutral colors are also very popular like beige, off-white and gray. To add personality and charm to the furniture, it should be complemented with wide options of accessories like throw pillows with sparkling colors. Salari added that the texture and shape of the furniture in the outdoor kitchen or the patio is also important. Circular furniture is popular nowadays as it creates focal points for the backyard which adds an open and social environment for the space.
Salari advised that the fabric for the outdoor furniture should also be something that is easy to maintain. Choose something that could withstand the extreme changes in temperature like rod-iron, Sunbrella fabrics and leatherette, which has become popular because it can survive in any kind of weather.
Furniture covers are also highly recommended in protecting the furniture from too much heat and rain. These covers can be custom-designed to match furniture sets. Lastly, Salari said that an addition of a fire pit can add a versatile component to the design of the home and can be used in many ways during the different times of the year.
