Real Estate News: Oklahoma City Economy Boosts Realtors

Oklahoma City poses to be a go-to place for realtors in 2016.

With the improvement of Oklahoma City's economy, the realty business is starting to boom as well, KFOR reported.

Joy Baresel of Verbode Group, a realtor who is reaping the rewards of working in the city, said "There's such a revival in downtown Oklahoma City now with the Thunder, you have the Olympic river training center that's developing there, we have a nationally-recognized food scene." Baresel added that the diversity of the state is helping the economy, resulting to a renewed real estate business.

People are not just moving in to the city because of the oil industry, which brings in many employees every year. Many are now relocating to Oklahoma City for what the city has to offer socially. Now, the area is facing a high demand for housing.

The city offers a lot, but compared to other urban areas in the country, living here is a lot more affordable. As an example, the realtor said that a hundred people went to an open house and all were excited at the possibility of owning a modern property without shelling out a lot of money.

The state of Oklahoma is known for its oil industry but according to Russell Evans, an economist, the product is not as weighty in Oklahoma City compared to the other counties of the state. This is why OKC is proving to be a magnet for prospective home owners.

Evans also mentioned that the first six to nine months of 2016 would be crucial for the economy of the metropolis. On the other hand, Mick Cornett, the city's mayor, was hopeful during last month's State of the City address.

Cornett said what realtor Baresel confirmed regarding the area's diversity. Add to this, the mayor also revealed that the city's crime rate decreased about 10 percent and that Oklahoma City has become one of the best places in the country to start a business.
