Snapchat has the third spot as the top free iPhone app. Initially launched in 2011, the app with disappearing messages was thought to be a fad, but turned out to be a success, as it has now millions of users who share around 700 million photos everyday all around the world, according to The Guardian.

YouTube is the fifth best free iPhone App of 2014. Reaching over 1 billion people monthly, it is the top video site in the world. Facebook's photo sharing app, Instagram, comes next. According to USA Today, over 60 million photos are uploaded on the site daily.

The controversial Spotify Music, where Taylor Swift pulled out her new album "1989" because of royalty issues, is at number 7. It is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs.

Skype for iPhone takes the eighth spot for the best free iPhone Apps this year. It not only allows its users to make video calls using the WiFi network or the phone's 3G connection, but to also send instant messages while on the move.

Number nine on the list is Google Maps, which lets its users access interactive maps and aerial imagery of countries while also providing directions.

Completing the top ten list of the top free iPhone apps is Tinder. It is an online matchmaking app where users can provide a specific area or radius with the option to "match" anyone within that distance, according to Go Tinder.
