The American punk rock band was officially formed in 1987 and with white joining during the late 90s. White has been affiliated with the band as a touring guitarist until he became a full fledged member in 2012.
Independent UK notes how White became the band's performing leading guitarist and eventually received his first studio credit on the 2012 album, "Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre!."
The site went on to recall other health issues that has plagued the band in recent years. In 2012 and 2013, the band had to cancel a number of tour dates due to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's entry to a drug rehabilitation program.
"I couldn't predict where I was going to end up at the end of the night," said the rocker to told Rolling Stone in 2013. "I'd wake up in a strange house on a couch. I wouldn't remember how. It was a complete blackout."
At the peak of his addiction, he launched an on-stage rant full of expletives when his band's sent was shortened at the iHeartRadio festival.
"I remember tiny things," recalled Armstrong of the incident. "The next morning, I woke up. I asked [my wife] Adrienne, 'How bad was it?' She said, 'It's bad.' I called my manager. He said, 'You're getting on a plane, going back to Oakland and going into rehab immediately.'"
Green Day has been an icon in American music since the 1990s. Some of its hit songs include "Dookie" released in 2004 and other songs like "When I Come Around."
