Housemates 101: Respect and Discipline

When living in a rented place, things can sometimes be too expensive for you to handle. There would time a come that you will be stretched out financially, and thus requiring drastic steps to be made. And one of the many solutions to it, is to have a housemate that can share the rent and other bills with you.

However, before you have a housemate, you should try to emphasize the dos and don'ts inside your place. And acknowledging such rules would be a fundamental step towards a peaceful co-existence. If you're coming from a house where your parents did the cleaning up - forget about it - it's in the past. This is the real world and you've got a responsibility to clean up after yourself in the kitchen, bathroom, living space and bedroom

-Help yourself to what's not yours

Many cooks love sharing their food - seeing other people enjoy their creations is part of the joy. But not everyone feels this way, especially those on a budget. You should try to discipline yourself and contribute in whatever it that would matter and is required, and respect the things and presence of your housemate.
