'iPhone 7' Release Date, Specs & Features: New iPhone, The 'iPhone 6S' Coming in Three Sizes [Rumors]

Apple wowed the world with its release of two iPhone models this year, the iPhone 6 and larger iPhone 6 Plus. Now, there are reports indicating the Cupertino-based firm is looking to up its previous performance by releasing, not one or two models, but three.

Focus Taiwan has reported that the next generation smartphone, dubbed by some as the iPhone 7, will be called the iPhone 6S.
In keeping with its successful Plus device, the site further notes, there will be an iPhone 6S Plus as well.

"Aside from Pegatron becoming the main supplier of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6S, 'there is also a small possibility that Pegatron will win the 5.5-inch model as well, but this remains to be seen'," said a research note.

In addition to the 4.6-inch and 5.5-inch devices, website G4Games is reporting that the firm is looking at adding a smaller 4-inch model to complete its 2015 release line up.

The site explained: "Allegedly, the smartphone will be created to facilitate single-handed operation, with 'female users' being an important part of its intended market segment."

G4Games also reported that "There have already been rumors suggesting that Apple will discontinue the iPhone 5C next year, leaving the 5S the only smaller-screen smartphone in the line-up, by default."

Based on the fact that Apple didn't release an upgraded version of the iPhone 5C this year, it's a big possibility, the line will be phased out.

There is no information on how the 4-inch phone will be developed, if it will be using the foundation of the iPhone 5S or be developed from scratch, notes the IB Times.

Two 2015 iPhone Releases?

In a related report, Stabley Times claims that the Apple may be preparing for two releases in 2015.

The site revealed that per a source, Apple will allegedly release the iPhone 6S along with the iWatch this coming spring while the iPhone 7 will be released during its usual Sept. Launch.

It is believed that the iPhone 6S will be released to boost the sale of the iWatch as many might think twice about buying the iWatch if there's no new phone that will go along with it.

Many assess the report as unlikely with Apple currently working on delivering its backlog of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus orders. However, Stabley does note that anything is possible, especially with Tim Cook looking to break away from the company's traditional patterns.
