How to Achieve a Rodent-Free Home

How can you make your home rodent-free? Do you spot any access holes or rodents in your home? Here are important ways to prevent them from entering your residence and make your home rodent-free:

Put garbage in sealed, metal containers

Make sure that your yard is clean to make sure it won't attract any rodent. Seal trash bins properly. Remove clutter and debris and dispose them immediately. This prevents the rodents to thrive and hide in areas in your backyard.

Check out garage and other storage areas

Make sure that your garage and storage areas are not breeding ground for rodents. "A cluttered garage can hold a large number of rodents," Mark "Shep" Sheperdigian, vice president of technical services for Rose Pest Solutions said, according to Bob Vila.

Cover holes in your homes

Prevent any rodent from entering your home by covering any hole or crack where they can enter. "The only thing that limits them from fishing through a crack is the size of their skulls," Sheperdigian added. For rats, that's the size of a quarter. For mice, that's the size of a dime. Pay special attention to gaps and holes around pipes. Leaks can widen any holes and create entranceways. Cover these possible passages with copper wool.

Don't leave any meal for the rodents

Make sure that you throw all the trash away properly. Don't forget to cover food and avoid leaving meals, or they will possibly love to stay in your home, Pest Control reports.

Don't leave the door open

Leaving the door open especially the garage would welcome all rodents into your home. Don't forget to close all doors especially at night.

Seal all openings

Seal air conditioner lines and other gaps to make sure rodents don't have an entry point.
