'Samsung Galaxy Note 5' Release Date, Specs & Price: New Device to Feature 64-bit Chipset? [Rumors]

Samsung is reportedly testing Qualcomm's next-generation chipset on the Galaxy Note 4 and will be included in the handsets released during the first quarter of 2015.

Presently, the Note 4 has two processor options, the first being the Exynos 7 Octa processor and the other with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset. According to SamMobile, Samsung is testing the new variant, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit chipset, of the Note 4 in South Korea.

"Our sources have revealed to us that a new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with a Snapdragon 810 SoC is being tested for some major carriers in South Korea. These carriers might be LG+, SKT, and Olleh, but we are not too sure about the names," wrote the website.

What does this mean for Android users? Per Forbes, "The Snapdragon 810 is a huge deal for Android manufacturers as 64-bit has been a box they have been desperate to tick ever since Apple unveiled 64-bit support with the iPhone 5S in 2013."

With a 64-bit processor, users can expect more RAM usage as well as faster memory. The site also claims that in theory, with a 64-bit chipset, the CPU and GPU bandwidth can also be widened allowing for improved parallel processing in addition to enhanced bus architecture speeds.

Basically, it enables users to have better processing and achieve seamless multitasking along with better graphics processing, data transfer and USB 3.0 charging.

For the meantime, Samsung devices that come with 32-bit processors are far from being outdated. Android Authority noted that in 2014, practically all of the smartphones launched have come with 32-bit specs including the Galaxy S5 and rival devices like the HTC One and much more.

The rumors that Samsung's flagship tablet will come equipped with the Snapdragon 810 with a cool 54-bit processor, it's exciting to think that it's highly possible that the next generation of the Note, dubbed as the Note 5, may carry this powerful yet more efficient feature.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 unveiled earlier this year, in October, can with a 5.7-inch QHD display, 3 GB RAM, 16-megapixel back camera supported with a 3.7-inch front-facing clicker, 32 GB internal memory, a 3,100 mAh battery and comes prepacked with the Android 4.4 KitKat.
