Gigalum Island near Paul McCartney's Home Drops Price by £100000

Gigalum Island, which is located a few miles from the Scottish estate of Sir Paul McCartney is currently for sale with a slashed price of £100,000 from its first asking price, The Scotsman reported.

The 19-acre island is located off the west coast of Scotland which features private beaches, a modern house, and breathtaking views of the surrounding islands.

The first time that it was listed in the market is during last summer with an asking price of £550,000 which could be a bargain for a private island with stunning surroundings.

The island, which is also located 15 miles away from Sir Paul's Mull of Kintyre home, remained on the market for six months. And since there were no takers, the price was reduced to £450,000, taking £100,000 off from its asking price.

The only way to get into the mainland from the island which is near the Isle of Gigha, is through a private boat to Gigha. From there, one can take a ferry for a two-hour trip to the mainland.

There is a beautiful and striking modern octagonal structure which features four separate wings. The home is called Gigalum House which was built back in 1980. And of course, apart from the home, its surrounding land will surely get one's attention.

The island, where one can get a view of Jura and Northern Ireland, has white sand beaches, rock outcrops, woods, and wildflower patches. There are even seals that live on rocks on the south part of the island. Dolphins and otters can also be seen in the surrounding waters.

Nick Ainscough from Rettie who sells the house said that the island and the house is an excellent buy since the buyer will surely enjoy the "rustic and charming accommodation on a spectacularly sited island with wonderful surrounding seascape and far reaching scenic views." Aside from that, the owner can also have "the opportunity, subject to planning consent, to extend the house, develop renewable energy sources and even build additional dwellings," Mail Online reported.
