There are rumblings of a possible new superhero appearance in the upcoming sequel, "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
The Inquisitr claims that the announcement of "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch and scheduled reshoot for Ultron is no mere coincidence.
Per the publication, Cumberbatch, who was recently announced to star in the Marvel film, "Doctor Strange," will be in a cameo as Stephen Strange. This means while we will see the "Imitation Game" actor take on his new role, he will be in the film "as a surgeon and not as a hero."
Marvel has not revealed what footage the reshoots will cover flaming speculation that they will involve Cumberbatch.
"Many are thinking that only a pre-Sorecer Supreme Stephen Strange will cameo, possibly as a medical aide who would tend to injured civilians during Ultron's attack," reported ComicBook.com.
"Or, Cumberbatch could debut in a post-credits scene, as Marvel has done in the past. Nick Fury, Thor, Thanos, and Howard the Duck all made their Cinematic Universe entries through a stinger, so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that Dr. Strange would do the same," added the website.
In addition, Enstarz suggests something different. The website acknowledged existing rumors of an "Avengers" appearance but says that "the more likely scenario could be the actor showing up in the next Captain America movie."
It further added: "It makes sense because of the last movie's reference, his ties with S.H.I.E.L.D., and it would be closer to the release date of his solo film and could be his mini-introduction into the main story that Marvel is working on."
Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme is a rumor that has been circulating for months and during the official confirmation made by Marvel, Producer Kevin Feige explained the decision to cast the "The Hobbit" star.
"Stephen Strange's story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity," said Feige. "In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character."
In the announcement, Marvel mentioned that Strange, a neurosurgeon, suffers from "a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions."
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is scheduled for release on May 1st, 2015 while "Doctor Strange" is pegged for release in 2016.
