Top 3 Signs Your Home Is Pathetically Outdated

If you are not too conscious about how your home looks, then, you won't mind how anyone else would describe it. But, if you are up for making money out of your home, being complacent about your home design might put you in trouble should you have decided to place your property in the real estate market.

If you want your house worth the selling, then, make your potential buyer see it worth the buying. You don't want to place your property in the backstage by just settling for what it has been, which is, just less. The real estate market is a competitive world after all. So, you need to be a savvy seller if you want to profit.

But, how can you tell that your home is already outdated and how can you change it? Here are top five signs:

Wooden paneling in your living room

Unless retro is in demand in the market, your wooden living room might fit the standards of a buyer who's into classics. But, if customers are more of a Taylor Swift spirit than Elvis Presley, then, it's time to say goodbye to your wooden paneling.

You should know that wood paneling instantly dates a home, according to Realtor.  It's not easy to change it unless you have more cash on hand.

"If you can't afford to rip it out and replace it, paint it a neutral color to make it feel more modern and up-to-date," said Will Johnson, a Realtor® and founder of the Sell and Stage team in Hendersonville, TN.

Carpet on the floor

Unless you want to have a magic carpet ride with Aladdin, carpeted floors aren't 'in' nowadays. This look was popular in the '90s but not in 2016, according to Huffington Post. So get your carpets off your house, even your bathroom. You don't want to look outdated in case your visitors are the millennials.

Outdated furniture and home accessories

Again, if you want to attract buyers, let go of bulky sofas, sleigh beds, and other archaic furniture as they can only make your home too traditional and old-fashioned. Replacing your old materials and accessories with modern pieces can mean extra expenses but it is worth the cash, as per Brand On Road.
