Real Estate News: RE/MAX Acquires Affiliate Office in New York

The Master Franchise for the RE/MAX of New York, owned by Pierre Titley since 1987, was re-acquired by RE/MAX, LLC.

"After so many years, this was a very difficult decision. I've watched this region grow through some challenging times, but as the market has improved significantly, it seemed to be the right time to make a change of direction for me and the entire New York region," Titley said.

Titley has agreed to transfer the ownership of RE/MAX New York at the end of the month, but he will retain the ownership of RE/MAX Quebec.

According to the press release of RE/MAX in PR NewsWire, the RE/MAX New York is going to be the 12th company-owned region in the United States to be re-acquired since the Central Atlantic and Southwest regions were purchased in 2013. In 2012, Texas was re-acquired. Earlier, Mountain States was re-acquired in 2011, and in 2007, California-Hawaii, Carolinas and Florida were all re-acquired.

The leadership role for the New York region will be passed down to the Region Vice President, Terri Bohannon, a 30-year industry veteran who has managed franchise operations for over 176 offices and 2,600 agents in the company-owned regions of RE/MAX Central & Northern Ohio as well as RE/MAX St. Louis.

"Pierre has been with the New York region for nearly 30 years and established the RE/MAX brand in a state with very competitive real estate markets," said Dave Liniger, CEO, Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder of RE/MAX, LLC. "Our goal in New York is to support the development of our Affiliates and to expand our presence across the state. Our focus is always to provide the tools they need to deliver the best customer service possible to homebuyers and sellers."

At present, RE/MAX New York has over 850 agents and nearly 60 independently owned and operated RE/MAX offices from Brooklyn to Buffalo.

RE/MAX was founded in 1973 by Dave and Gail Liniger, and currently has a worldwide network of over 100,000 agents in nearly 100 countries.
