Tesla Motors Opens First Brooklyn Showroom

Electric car company Tesla Motors announces the opening of its very first showroom which will take place in Brooklyn, The Real Deal reported.

The showroom will be at 160 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, a converted office formerly marine engine repair center Golden Marine Terminal. It was renovated and redesigned by LIVWRK, a real estate developer. LIVWRK is the same developer behind office complex Dumbo Heights. The renovation is made possible also in partnership with Aby Rosen's RFR and Jared Kushner's Kushner Cos. LIVWRK bought the site two years ago for $21.5 million and they are anticipating tech companies to rent the space soon. Tesla's showroom will be at the ground floor which is around 40,000 square feet with $45 asking rent for every square foot. This is the car giant's first entry to Brooklyn. The company will build its service center and office on the same location.

Aside from this new showroom, Financial Spot reported that Tesla at present has a showroom in Chelsea but the lease will end July this year and they are exploring for new locations in Manhattan. The term of lease in the new showroom is not confirmed yet though the company usually lease for a span of 10-15 years. Representatives from LIVWRK refused to comment. The company is currently posting jobs online for its new location.

Reports added that the deal was Tesla's move to make its presence established in Brooklyn. Other charging stations situated in the state are found in 75 Smith Street in Downtown and 66 Rockwell Place in Fort Greene. Vespa, an Italian scooter brand, is also renting at a showroom in Brooklyn.

Tesla before has reportedly been looking for a place to relocate at 860 Washington Street but hearsay died out after the company has confirmed the recent news.
