New York City Listings: Where in the City is It Priciest and Cheapest to Rent Homes

Wondering where in New York City is the most expensive and the cheapest to rent a home? New York Curbed featured the most expensive and the cheapest places to live in in the city.

It was reported that in the entire country, Manhattan remains to be the second most expensive place to rent next to San Francisco. However, it was reported that there has been a bit of relief in the renting market on the area for the past month. It was revealed that there has been a decline in the prices of one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments, which fell 1.8 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively.

According to Zumper, NoMad has the highest median rent for one-bedroom units for $4,500. It is followed by Flatiron District with $4,380 and Tribeca with $4,300. Within the area, the cheapest rental options are located uptown. In Washington Heights, the cheapest rental is around $1,780, while in Central Harlem, the cheapest is $2,000 per month.

On the other hand, it was reported that the cheapest neighborhoods in the city are in Brooklyn, although some of the median prices for apartments are already close to surpassing $4,000 a month. In Vinegar Hill, the median for one-bedroom units is $3,899 a month, while in Dumbo it is $3,880.

In Williamsburg, the prices are around $3,300, while in Downtown Brooklyn it is around $3,080. The cheapest rental in the neighborhood is in East Flatbush, where one can get a place for $1,300 a month. In Brownsville, one can rent for $1,450 per month. However, the cheapest rental in all the neighborhoods in the city is located in Hunts Point in the Bronx which has a median rent of $1,100 per month.
