New York City Listings: Park Slope Mansion Seeks to Break Records With $15M Listing

Another property in Park Slope is looking to be the most expensive listing in the area with its $15 million asking price. According to New York Curbed, the 32-foot-wide mansion at 838 Carroll Street is currently the sixth most expensive in the borough.

It was reported that the historic mansion was originally built in 1888 and was designed by C.P.H. Gilbert who is also the one behind the most expensive mansion in Park Slope at 473 Montgomery Place. The property is configured as a two-family residence at the moment with a quadruplex on the upper levels and a two-bedroom apartment on the garden level which can be converted into a pair suite.

Listing details of the property reveal that the main quarters have eight bedrooms, four luxury bathrooms and four powder rooms. It also has a total of 13 wood burning fireplaces. It is also complete with a formal dining room, sitting room a family room, laundry room and library.

The entire third floor is the master suite which is complete with its own sitting room and custom walk-in closets. It also has an opulent master bathroom with a fireplace, steam shower and a soaking tub encased in Calacatta gold marble. The junior apartment, on the other hand, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms which are beautifully and stylishly done.

It was said that the original historic details of the property were maintained such as the fireplaces, pocket doors, moldings, plaster ceilings and the mahogany inlayed oak floors. On the outside, the garden is surrounded by cedar-paneled fencing, and it was recently planted with cypress trees and sodded with Kentucky blue grass. There is also a setup for a full outdoor kitchen. Although the place was restored to its former glory, it is still equipped with modern utilities which include state-of-the-art security system and new electric and plumbing.
