Macau's Newest Hotel Dubbed Most Expensive Hotel in the World

Here's a look at Macau's newest hotel dubbed the Most Expensive Hotel in the World.

According to the Daily Mail, The 13 hotel was the brainchild of Chinese billionaire Stephen Hung. The hotel was named after the French king Louis XIII. The king was the brainchild behind the other equally famous and expensive building, the Palace of Versailles.

According to Elle Décor, the hotel cost $1.4 billion. Each of the rooms cost $7 million when it was built and decorated.

"Dripping in gold and outfitted with scrollwork, elaborate frescoes, crystal chandeliers and chrome furnishings, The 13 is every bit the French manse. The 'entry-level' Villa du Comte room (only a modest 2,000 square feet in size) boasts an expansive Roman bath, vaulted ceiling, neoclassical columns, and a retractable marble floor," the publication noted.

The hotel also boasts some unique amenities such as an invitation only L'Atelier for guests who want to purchase high-end couture. The 13 also has a three-Michelin restaurant called L'Ambroisie.

"The all-villa hotel is set to open late this summer. All of its 200 suites will have 24-hour butler service, as well as a fleet of customized Rolls-Royce Phantoms to chauffer guests. Though nightly rates have yet to be released, there's no doubt the price tag will measure up to this over-the-top, one-of-a-kind experience," the publication concluded.

Photos of the hotel have also been posted online and they show how intricately designed the property is.

Meanwhile, some people might call the hotel a bit lavish for their taste, but The 13 is definitely a must-try; that is, if budget is not an issue. It is also expected that rooms at The 13 will sell out fast the minute prices are released online. As such, booking for a room as early as possible will be a good idea.
