New York Real Estate: Find Out Which Neighborhoods Offer the Priciest & Cheapest Townhouses in the City

Owning a townhouse may just be a dream for many New York City citizens. However, a new survey revealed that owning a townhouse may be possible depending on the location that the buyer is looking into. New York Curbed reported on which neighborhoods around the city offer the cheapest and the most expensive townhouses.

According to the site, NeighborhoodX was able to run a number of prices last month based on the listings around the city. According to the data, the priciest neighborhoods in the city come from Greenwich Village in Manhattan. It was revealed that the townhouse sale median is around $2,662 per square foot. In Brooklyn Heights, Kings County takes the no. 1 spot with prices reaching $1,516 per square foot. Other expensive areas included in the list which were West Village, the Upper East and West Sides and Brooklyn's Cobble Hill.

Meanwhile, the numbers reveal that the least expensive place to buy a townhouse in the city is located in Manhattan's Hamilton Heights neighborhood. It was revealed that the neighborhood offers one of the best deals for home buyers with home averaging only around $592 per square foot. A much cheaper deal is also available in Brooklyn's East New York which is named the cheapest neighborhood with only $387 per square foot. Other cheap neighborhoods include Mott Haven in the Bronx.

There are also the new neighborhoods considered "on the rise" like Sunset Park and Bed-Stuy. It was revealed that the average sale prices for these places are lower than $600 per square foot. Since a lot of real estate projects are coming to these places, it is most likely that this will not be the case in the future. This happened to Greenwich Village nearly 20 years ago, and now it is one of the priciest neighborhoods in the city.
