Home Cleaning Hacks: Ways to Get Rid of the Mess Children Make Inside the Home

When children are inside the home, it is very hard to clean the mess they leave behind. From crayon marks on the walls, to mud on the floor, how can one keep the house clean all the time? Here are some cleaning hacks and storage ideas to wipe out the mess children make inside the house.

Real Simple gave a couple of suggestions on how to manage different mess children make. For Play Doh scattered all over the floor, it is important to not try to wipe it up or sweep the little pieces since this would smear the dough on the floor. To make sure no marks are left behind, pick up the large pieces and let the small pieces dry out for an hour or two before sweeping or wiping them out.

This goes the same for dinner disasters with food like rice or quinoa scattered all over the floor. It should be dried before you wipe it off or sweep it.

For other food disasters like liquid spilled on the couch, soak it up with a towel and immediately remove the cushion cover to prevent the liquid from soaking in further. Clean the cover using a damp cloth with gentle dishwashing soap to remove the remaining liquid. It can also be tossed in the laundry if it is safe to be washed in the washing machine.

For pee on the couch or the carpet, dilute the stain by taking a glass of lukewarm water and pouring it over the area. Cover the part with a thick towel and apply pressure to soak up the stain.

The Loop also recommended some great ways to hide kids' mess like a storage bench and a play tent. Aside from stains, kids also tend to leave toys around the house. It is important to have ample storage space in the living room and the bedroom.
