Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date & Specs: Image Leak Shows Larger Screen & Thinner Bezel [Photo]

Reports have it that a leaked image online is of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6, which features a larger screen, a thinner bezel and a thinner shape, CNET reported.

The photo first appeared on Friday on Toptienmobiel, a Dutch blog site, showing a photo of a yet-to-be-identified Samsung smartphone. According to them, an anonymous tipster supplied the image.

In the photo, a person's hand can be seen holding up a smartphone that is white in color with the Samsung logo stamped on the top. The phone has a large screen with a thin outside frame, or a bezel, and looked to be thin based on the product's design.

There are also rounded corners, and the physical home button can be seen, as well as the back buttons and capacitative multitasking, according to Phone Dog. The front camera is also shown to have been moved above the earpiece, instead of Samsung's usual models where it was placed at the side of the earpiece.

Rumors immediately circulated that this was the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S6, which could be unveiled come February during the Mobile World Congress trade show, according to CNET. However, gadget enthusiasts and Samsung fans should not get too expectant as various photos are published in the internet daily and Samsung has yet to make a statement concerning the photo or the Samsung Galaxy S6.

There are even rumors that the phone was actually the Samsung Galaxy A7, another phone that Samsung is alleged to be currently working on, according to Business Insider.

In response to the leaked photo, French website Nowhere Else proceeded to debunk the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy A7 rumors, according to Business Insider. The site claimed that the photo was edited to look like a Samsung phone and was therefore fake.

It is unknown how Nowhere Else came to that conclusion, but it is also interesting to note that the site once published leaked photos of the iPhone 6 ahead of its release which turned out looking quite similar to the actual phone.

Now that the rumors have been reportedly nipped in the bud, fans are left to await more news from Samsung or wait for the rumored release during the Mobile World Congress next year.

For now though, the Samsung Galaxy S6 remains a mystery as even information on its specs are kept under wraps. Rumors have it though that the phone will run Google's latest operating system, the Android 5.0 Lollipop, will have a 5.5-inch screen that has a 2560x1440 display and a rear camera that has 16 to 20 megapixels, according to CNET.
