In a report from Realtor.com, three Americans shared their experiences buying a home abroad and how they were able to successfully make the purchase. One of the issues that most people encounter when purchasing a house overseas is looking for a bank.
"We worried about securing a mortgage because foreigners have to jump through hoops to get loans from Costa Rican banks," said Jones Martinez, a former New Yorker, who got a house in Costa Rica.
While securing a mortgage for getting a house abroad can be a completely difficult task, the publication suggested on finding a good real estate lawyer, instead of an agent to help you make the purchase. It would also be great if you can simply find a purchase price that works for you and the seller.
