'North By Northwest' Cary Grant Los Palomas Property Awaits New Owner

"North by Northwest" star Cary Grant's Las Palomas property is up for grabs for $3.495 million. The stunning retreat, which was built following Spanish-style realty has quite a history.

The Agency, who is listing this property, revealed that Grant fell in love with it the first time his eyes laid on it in 1954. He commissioned Wallace Neff the famed architect who is best known for his Spanish Colonial residential property projects, to build its guest wing. The home addition is now referred to as the "The Alfred Hitchcock Casita." Grant's Los Palomas estate was completed in the year 1930, Palm Springs Life reported.

Las Palomas is situated in the Movie Colony neighborhood located in Palm Springs. Until today, this is where many old Hollywood celebrities enjoy retirement. It has six bedrooms, six baths and features French doors and vaulted ceilings. The property is also surrounded by a lush outdoors. Its master suite has a cozy fireplace adorned with big doors that open views of the overlooking estate.

Los Palomas property estate was purchased by Dr. Guy Burrows for $1.3 million in 2012. Inside the house are displays of some of Grant's memorabilia, such as a "North by Northwest" movie call sheet. Dr. Burrows, the current owner of the property, shared with The Wall Street Journal that his wife shed out thousands of dollars just to be able to maintain its original elements like the home's wood-burning fireplaces and terra cotta floor tiles.

Burrows family, who decided to rent out the place for special private events, listed the property because they are relocating.

Grant's Las Palomas estate encouraged him to accept movie projects, once again. Films like "To Catch A Thief" and "An Affair To Remember" were two of this come back movies. Fellow stars Sophia Loren, Howard Hughes, Katharine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Clark Gable once in a while visited Grant in this property to experience life minus the limelight
