Celebrity Homes for Sale: Former Head Coach Johnny Dawkins Sells Durham Mansion for $1.56M

After eight seasons, head coach of the Stanford Cardinal, Johnny Dawkins, let his team go, and with that he is also letting go of his Durham mansion for just under $1.6 million. According to Realtor, the former NBA player and collegiate All-American at Duke just listed the home before it was confirmed that he was removed from his position after a mediocre 15-15 season.

Now a coaching free agent, Dawkins is looking for a buyer for the traditional two-story residence which has a total of five bedrooms and seven full bathrooms. Listing details of the property reveal that the interior is filled with custom designs, crown molding and hardwood floors all throughout the two floors. It is also filled with custom cabinetry, vaulted ceilings and cozy fireplaces. The foyer features oversized windows and leads you to the formal living room which is designed with stunning tile and hand-finished millwork.

The gourmet kitchen is filled with high-end appliances like a built-in refrigerator, dishwasher, double oven and cooktop electric stove. It also has a separate breakfast nook which overlooks the sparking pool and hot tub. The spacious room also has custom cabinets and an eat-in bar. There is also a media room with stadium seating with comfortable recliners and an impressive large screen. Another place for relaxation is the spacious entertainment room with bar, den and a pool table.

Dawkins' NBA career started in the 1986 NBA draft when he was selected by the San Antonio Spurs as the 10 pick overall. He played in the NBA for nine seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons.

Following his NBA career, he went back to Duke University in 1996 and worked as an administrative intern in the athletic department and was also an analyst for the Duke's home basketball games. He joined the coaching staff in 1998 and was promoted to associate head coach in 1999. In 2008 he was named the head coach at Stanford University, and in March 14, 2016, he was relieved of his coaching duties.
