After almost a year, Austrian royalty Alexandra Schoenburg-Hartenstein has unloaded her 14 East 68th Street co-op as the property was finally sold for $2.65 million. According to New York Curbed, the apartment which spans the entire third floor of the six-story limestone townhouse was bought by the princess for 2012 for $2.3 million.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment was originally listed in early 2015 for $3.2 million. However, the property received a series of price cuts for the last year until it hit $2.7 million. It finally entered a contract last November after Kevin Matuszak bought it for $2.65 million.
The apartment boasts a wood burning fireplace and exquisite designs with moldings and 10-foot high ceilings. Listing details reveal that both bedrooms have massive space and are complete with en-suite bathrooms which were recently renovated.
The second bathroom features two entrances which also makes it a powder room. The kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances, and there is also a washer and a dryer in the apartment. It was said that the place offers a massive closet space and an additional private large storage room in the basement.
According to the Observer, the princess is married to Taki Theodoracopulos who is a Greek shipping heir and also a journalist. It was reported that his name wasn't on the deed of the property because of his controversial remarks, and he was also accused of using a number of racial and ethnic insults.
After the sale, the couple still has another property in the city as the princess still held on to her more prestigious Upper East Side home at 720 Park Avenue which she bought last summer for $3.85 million. It was reported that the property has seven bedrooms. It features a beautifully arched entrance and living rooms which are designed with elaborate moldings and a decorative fireplace.
