Novelist and columnist for the Miami Herald, Carl Hiaasen is selling his six-bedroom estate in Islamorada for $3.4 million. According to Miami Curbed, the 4,200-square-foot property which sits on 1.85 acres of land offers waterfront access and views plus other high-end amenities. It was said to be last sold for $785,000 in 1996.

Listing details reveal that the main house has a total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It also has 3,262 square feet of covered porch which extends the length of the beach. The place also features a gym and a walk-in closet. It was said that the interiors were designed with stark white, and the open layout adds a cool and bright feeling inside the home.

On the outside are a beachfront oversized pool and a separate guest house. The guest house has a total area of 966 square feet, and it is complete with two bedrooms and a bathroom. It also has a private covered porch. The wall and fence provides privacy and security to the estate, and one can relax while enjoying the views.

One can also enjoy outdoor activities as the island is conveniently located at the Intra Coastal Waterway, Florida Bay and The Gulf of Mexico to the West. There is also access to offshore waters of the Atlantic Ocean. For those who want to take a stroll, there is a walking and biking path that stretches the entire length of the island.

Hiaasen has been living in Florida for a long time. He began his writing career as an investigative reporter before he started writing novels. Some of his novels have been honored like "Tourist Season" and "Hoot," which later became a film which starred Logan Lerman and Brie Larson. He is also a songwriter as he co-wrote three songs with his good friend Warren Zevon, which include "Rottweiler Blues," "Seminole Bingo," and "Basket Case."
