Creed lead vocalist Scott Stapp is facing investigation from the Secret Service after his wife made a 911 call saying that Stapp thought he was a CIA agent tasked to assassinate United States president Barack Obama, Alternative Press reported.
The spokesperson for the Secret Service, Nicole Mainor, is tasked to investigate threats made against the President and released a statement to PEOPLE saying they were aware of the incident and were taking appropriate action.
The scandal stemmed from the 911 call made last month by Stapp's wife Jaclyn and Stapp's sister-in-law; a call obtained by TMZ.
In the 40-minute call, the two women are heard claiming that Stapp was having a psychotic episode. Stapp reportedly thought he was part of the CIA, was under orders to kill Obama and that the CIA was trying to kill him.
He also claimed to have had 400 to 600 pages of important paperwork with him and tried to run away in a bicycle.
The call also painted a clearer picture of Stapp's psychotic episode at the time, as his wife and sister-in-law pleaded with the dispatcher to take Stapp back to the psych ward, where he has been committed almost 10 times.
However, it didn't stop there as Stapp reportedly made a 911 call of his own, claiming that his wife, who had filed for divorce, was lying about everything, according to NEWS. He claimed she had stolen his truck, which explained the bike, and stole $6 million from him, which was the only reason she was locking him away.
In response to his wife's claims and the investigation by the CIA, Stapp reportedly released a statement, though it was quickly deleted. However, several websites such as Loud Wire were able to grab a copy of it before it was taken down.
In the message, Stapp claimed the accusations were not true and that he was "100% sober and 100% mentally sane and stable." He wrote that after the scandal, he sought refuge at a sober community in Palm Desert and talked to the heads of the Hazleton-Betty Ford Center.
He also claimed that supporting documents issued by the Center will be handed to Judge Colin to support his claims that he had not been using drugs or alcohol and did not have any sort of mental health issue.
Stapp wrote that he also found proof of financial fraud and embezzlement and was hurt over what was done to him. At the end, he expressed his "respect, love and admiration" for Obama.
It was recently reported that Stapp also lost custody of his three children, Daniel, Jagger and Milan, under the ruling of a Florida judge, with possibly no visitation rights, according to TMZ in separate report. He was not allowed to stay in their family home, which was left to his soon-to-be ex-wife and children.
