Getting a good night's sleep is a must especially after a long day at school or in the office. However, if you find yourself not getting that much-needed rest and relaxation at home, then the culprit may be your room itself. Here are some tips for decorating your bedroom to improve your sleep.
Your bedroom is your haven after running all the errands at work and at home. Unfortunately, the way you decorate your bedroom can get in the way of you getting a good night's sleep.
According to House Beautiful, there are ways on how you can improve your sleep at night by decorating your bedroom in a certain manner. For instance, your bed should be cozy yet cool at the same time.
"When you first go to sleep, your body is warmer. But in the early morning, your core body temperature drops, so you might need another layer," said Phyllis C. Zee, M.D., Ph.D. from the Center for Circadian and Sleep Medicine at Northwestern University.
This means that your bed must have comfortable bedding to get better sleep at night. Start off with a duvet that will keep you warm but still comfortable.
Choosing the right mattress will also help you achieve a good night's sleep and an indication that you are sleeping on the wrong mattress is when you wake up with a backache. The publication advises on finding a firm mattress that is comfortable enough for you while providing your spine with the support it needs.
Going for a different color may also help improve your sleep at night. As previously reported on Realty Today, color has been found to have an effect on a person's mood and emotions.
The colors blue, green, pink and lilac were found to work best for the bedroom. The color blue represents serenity, green has a natural calming nature, pink also makes one calm while lilac represents spirituality and creativity.
