Here's a look at an entire village that is currently on sale for $28.5 million.
According to House Beautiful, the village is located near Malton in North Yorkshire, UK. The entire village has also been owned by the same family for the past 150 years. This is why they have decided that it's now time to give it to its next rightful owners.
The rural estate includes a beautiful and one-of-a-kind manor house, a total of 43 cottages, a sports pavilion and pub and more than 2,000 acres of land that spans the countryside.
Eve Dawnay was the most recent landlady who has been tasked to man the village. She inherited it from her late father back in 1964. What makes the village a true home is the fact that Dawnay makes it a point to keep her rentals reasonable to the point of being cheap.
Unfortunately, Dawnay passed away in 2010 and left no heir to watch over the village. The landlady's beneficiaries have decided to sell the entire village including Dawnay's former home and the 21-bedroom West Heslerton Hall.
According to Tom Watson, the man who is currently in charge of managing the listing, Dawnay was a very wonderful woman.
"She was very kind and the property rents are, and have always been, very low. This has helped keep a village community and there are obviously a lot of people hoping that somebody with a similar benevolent nature will come along to take over the estate. It would be perfect for somebody wanting to build up and leave a legacy," he told Country Living.
