Here's a look at some of the nicest houses that changed the way people look at America.
According to Elle Décor, it might come as a surprise to everyone that the White House didn't make it to their list this year. After all, they decided to focus mostly on house that are deemed to be most unique. This includes the house in Taos Pueblo, Mexico.
At first glance, the houses look pretty much like the classic houses in Egypt. It also appears to be made out of sand which of course isn't really the case, according to PBS.
Taos Pueblo remains to be one of the oldest inhabited structures of the world. At present, there are still approximately 150 Pueblo Indians who lived there to preserve its culture.
Also on the list is the Monticello in Albermarle County, Virginia. The house also happens to be Thomas Jefferson's home which he designed himself so many years ago. As such, it can be said that the third president of the United States was the one who made brick houses extremely popular.
Third, the Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, New York is another stunning structure that pretty much resembles a castle. The property was previously owned by New York City mayor, a railroad tycoon and a prominent merchant. The public has now been allowed to tour and take photos of the Lyndhurst, and it has also been featured in countless movies.
The Tenement Museum in New York, New York also made it to the list. With its rustic charm, this prominent museum has housed around 7,000 immigrants from 1963 to 1935.
The museum's host Geoffrey Baer said, "I'm living the life that ancestors came to America for, and dreamed of, when they were living in these spaces."
