Watch Mariah Carey Cry at Her Own Concert! You Won't Believe Why She Had to Wipe Tears on Stage

Fans witnessed a different Mariah Carey last night as she hit the stage to perform her hits on a holiday concert held at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The show is the first of six, titled "All I Want For Christmas Is You: A Night of Joy and Festivity."

Decked in a stunning sequined, low-cleavage, red gown, the 44-year-old diva belted out old holiday hits. The repertoire included her version of "Here Comes Santa Claus" and the popular "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

The night was filled with awesome performances and minor surprises. At one time during her concert, Carey lost her shoe but did not let that get in the way of her singing. The ever-professional singer continued belting out her tunes as she sashayed in the stage with one red shoe in hand.

While the show featured holiday hits, Carey sang her 1993 top hit, "Hero." It was at this point that the singer became emotional. At the beginning of the song, Carey shed tears, which she quickly tried to wipe away.

She went on to share that many people would come to her and share how they were inspired by the song she had written for herself. The star then told her fans that she would be singing "Hero" for herself this time. Before she began, Carey went to the sidelines to approach an assistant who gave her something to wipe her tears away.

Though the reason for her tears remains vague, many speculate that the songstress was moved to tears over her split with Nick Cannon. According to US Magazine the two are getting a divorce.

While mid-song, the singer interrupted her orchestra as an earpiece from her mic pack fell off her dress. "Really? I'm sorry. Cut!" Carey cried in disbelief as she bent to pick up the piece on the floor. "I'm gonna take these out and leave them out," stated the singer.

A technician quickly came on stage to help her get the device off her dress, as she blamed "the sweat" for the faulty grip of the gadget. Once successfully removed, Carey proceeded where she left off with the song and belted out powerful notes as if the interruption never happened.

The diva finished her piece to a loud cheering and shouts from her delighted audience. E! Online reported that the audience enjoyed and loved her performance, a good turn of events to hose down criticisms from her past concerts.
