Here are some of the most common mistakes people tend to make when displaying artworks at home. According to Elle Décor, there are also some things you need to consider before displaying a specific type of artwork at home.
Charlie Cosby, head of creative at Farrow & Ball recently spoke with Fast Co. Design to say that establishing the overall mood of the collection is a must.
"By using the right colors behind the artworks, you can make the viewer walk into a room and experience a painting in a more atmospheric way," he said.
Additionally, it is always best to go for flat paint when it comes to the wall where the painting would be displayed. Flat paint means walls that have only one color.
"Flat paint is typically a better choice to highlight art. There's no sheen, so the light reflection will come from the art, not the wall," Jim Eaucette, Sherwin-Williams district manager said.
If you are having a hard time choosing which flat paint to go for, most often than not white paint is the best way to go. However, this isn't always the case either.
As white in itself is a color that's very hard to maintain, hanging paintings against a white backdrop can leave stains. Also, make it a point to create an accent wall every now and then.
Lastly, don't go overboard when it comes to displaying artwork. Don't display too much artwork inside your home either because it is not meant to be a museum.
Now that you know all of these helpful tips, what are you still waiting for? Make sure to incorporate them now the next time you decide to buy and hang a painting at home.
Remember that your painting should always have a theme of some sort too so that it will be very easy on the eyes.
