Rumors are circulating about the upcoming revival of the 1984 "Ghostbusters" franchise by Sony Pictures and some of the famous names being attached to the project include Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt and more, Daily Mail reported.
One of the first names attached to the "Ghostbusters" project is "Magic Mike" star Tatum, whose supposed involvement in the franchise was one among the numerous information leaked during the Nov. 25 Sony hack attack.
According to the leak, Tatum supposedly emailed Amy Pascal, the co-chairperson of Sony Pictures, back in August saying he should star in the reboot alongside "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Pratt. Tatum even reportedly likened it to the "glory and epicness of a HUGE BATMAN BEGINS MOVIE."
Reports also have it that "Crazy Stupid Love" star Ryan Gosling has shown interest in the franchise, according to Slash Film.
Information that came from the leaked emails claimed that Pascal reportedly contacted Columbia Pictures co-president of production Michael De Luca to ask what projects Gosling was interested in doing. De Luca replied saying that Gosling's manager told him the actor wanted in on the "Ghostbusters" revival.
However, while names of numerous actors are being thrown about, the leaked emails have also hinted at an all-female version being produced, and this time reports are lining up the likes of Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Lizzy Caplan and more to play a part, according to Pedestrian TV.
They are also reportedly looking at Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy, while "Pitch Perfect" star Rebel Wilson allegedly already met with Director Paul Feig to talk about a possible part in the movie. Feig was being named as the director of this "Ghostbusters" female version.
This all-female movie will reportedly be a reboot that is scarier and more high-tech than the original movie, and is set in a world where the team works for the government. The team's existence is constantly denied and kept under wraps by the government because ghosts officially do not exist, according to Pedestrian TV.
The emails leaked also mentioned "Game of Thrones" actor Peter Dinklage and "Saturday Night Live" cast member Cecily Strong, who they are looking at to add to the cast as villains, according to Daily Mail.
Emails from Hannah Minghella, the co-president of production of Columbia Pictures alongside De Luca, also claimed that Anthony and Joe Russo from the "Captain America" film franchise were keen to work on the film. The Russo brothers were reportedly already working with Tatum on a new mythology for the film which will span multiple films akin to Director Christopher Nolan's reimagining of the Batman film series.
