'Love It or List It' Homeowners File for Lawsuit Against Show Due to Renovation Mishap

"Love It or List It" homeowners Deena Murphy and Timothy Sullivan were featured on an episode of the hit HGTV last year. However, unlike the other homeowners featured on the show, the couple wasn't very pleased with the result of their renovation. According to Elle Décor, Murphy and Sullivan are now suing the contractors and producers who worked on their home.

"Love It or List It" is a show focused on finding houses that can be renovated. Following the changes made to the house, the homeowners will decide whether or not they love it or they will opt to buy another home.

Murphy and Sullivan decided to keep their home, but they made it clear that they were not pleased with what happened to the property. In the lawsuit filed by the couple against Big Coat TV, they claimed that the renovation work done on their home was shoddy. They also claimed that there were unfair trade practices that took place at that time.

The couple also noted that their floor was damaged, and the carpeting that was installed in their house was of a low quality. They also claimed that their windows were painted shut. Overall, the renovation was just unimpressive because it was a scaled-down version of what was previously discussed to them.

Meanwhile, Murphy and Sullivan also revealed that they spent $140,000 for the renovation for a company that they didn't really choose and never trusted. Still, the production company went on to work with Aaron Fitz contractors even though the couple said that they don't want to hire the team.

Of the $140,000 budget, the producers of the show only used $85,000. The rest of the amount was given to the show to use for their production costs. According to Country Living, the producers of the show have not yet released their statement regarding the matter.
