Famous furniture store IKEA is known for naming their products in a very unique manner. Here are some of the terms they use and their respective meanings.

For instance, IKEA's wooden dresser which they call Malm is actually the Swedish word for ore or a kind of rock, according to House Beautiful.

The store also sells a cute kitchen play set for children which they call Duktig. This means capable in English which is what the owners of the company believe the children feel when they are playing with this toy.

IKEA also previously released the Bekvam series which consists of a handy step stool that can also be used as a chair. Bekvam is actually comfortable in English which is what users can experience when they use the stool to reach into high places.

The Swedish furniture store also released a bookshelf which they named Billy. The name is just considered a popular name in both Sweden and the United States.

Meanwhile, IKEA's traditional bedroom collection known as the Hemnes is a range that comes with the headboard, the dresser and the nightstand. The name came from a town in north Norway.

Just like Billy, IKEA also named something after a popular Swedish girl's name Elly. The range comes with a line of kitchen towels.

IKEA also launched the LACK table which they say was derived from the word lacquer.

Lastly, IKEA also named their rugs after different places. For instance, they have a Stockholm rug which boasts of graphic black-and-white stripes.
