Historic homes definitely exude a charm unlike other houses being sold in the real estate market. It isn't such a wonder why this historic home for sale in Ohio is receiving a lot of attention and offers from buyers.
A historic home at East Liverpool in Ohio is being sold for $72,800, reports Realtor.com. The house has been in the area and was built by a wealthy architectural enthusiast in 1923.
The 4,660-square-foot historic home has four bedrooms and even houses interior and exterior chapels. While this might sound like a great deal, listing agent Marie Houston told the publication that there are plenty of issues that come with the house.
"It needs so much work. The utilities aren't even on... You're buying it as-is," she said.
Some of the issues of the historic Ohio home include cracked Roman pillars, holes in the ceilings, and boarded windows. The house also needs a major cleaning, as the publication notes that the bathroom's colorful mosaic tiles, as well as its stained-glass windows, are in dire need of a good scrub.
Buyers should also take note that the house has previously sustained fire damage in 2008. While these may be enough to get buyers running away from the property, Houston said that the house has already received five or six offers during the first day the house was opened to interested buyers.
As previously reported here on Realty Today, there are plenty of issues that come with buying a historic home. One should be prepared to shell out more money and prepare more paperwork than they would if they bought a newer home in the real estate market.
However, there are also a lot of advantages to living in a historic home. Aside from living in a house that has been there longer than you have been living, the unique design and charm that it holds are often what attract buyers into moving into a historic home.
