Android L Lollipop Release Date & Update: Bugs & Fixes - App Crashes, Lagging & More!

Users are still waiting for the day Google releases its latest operating system, the Android 5.0 Lollipop, to their smartphones, and while they wait, they're looking for new ways to at least try and fix the problem on their own, Android Central reported.

When it comes to the release date, Google has been not been quite as consistent as expected in rolling out the Android Lollipop and websites such as Android Pit, Tech Radar and Know Your Mobile have tried to list down the estimated release dates for most phones.

For the Nexus phones, most of them already have the update, with the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 being updated while the Nexus 6 and 9 Lollipop update came right out of the box.

For the Motorola, the Moto E, Moto G LTE, Moto X and Droid Turbo are all awaiting the update, which is expected before the end of the year, while the update is available for the 2014 Moto G and Moto X.

As for the Samsung phones, the Galaxy Note 3 will have it come January 2015, while the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S4 will have it by the year's end.

The HTC phones are still awaiting the updates, which might come by early next year.

The LG G3 already has the update, while the Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 and Z2 Tablet will get it at the start of next year.

However, for the phones who do have the update, the Android Lollipop is still unfortunately plagued with bugs, and sites such as Android Central, Android Origin, Gizmodo, Gotta Be Mobile and more have tried to offer tips and tricks to get the Lollipop going.

For apps that won't work with the Lollipop, tend to crash, keep the device awake, or take up too many system resources, the best thing is to uninstall the app. Users can try installing it again, but sometimes, it is still incompatible and the best chance is to wait for the app to be updated by developers.

Cleaning the phone's cache is also helpful to stop the phone from lagging, especially as data cached from a previous version of the operating system will cause issues with the phone and its current system. Users can either clean out the device one by one or sweep the entire cache at once.

Sometimes a factory reset is really all a user can do in the hopes that starting from scratch and deleting every single thing, especially traces of the older OS, will make things run smoother. As such, it is imperative to back up the device beforehand.
