Fashion designer and former chief creative officer of Jimmy Choo shoe brand is selling her luxurious Manhattan penthouse for $27 million. According to Variety, Tamara Mellon bought the penthouse in 2008 for $20 million, years after her divorce with American banking scion Matthew Mellon. The penthouse has been on and off the market since 2014, and it was originally listed for $34 million.
The 7,140-square-foot interior space includes the 41-foot-long living room and the 700-square-foot library located on the upper level. There are a total of four full bathrooms and also a one-bedroom staff suite complete with full bathroom that is located behind the white kitchen.
There are a total of four fireplaces throughout the penthouse and it also features a dozen of closets including the dressing room that has floor-to-ceiling shoe racks located in the master bedroom. There is a total of three spacious terraces that span about 3,000 square feet in total.
Listing details provide more information about the room, and it was revealed that it also features a wood burning fireplace and glass doors which open to one of the terraces that is designed with majestic limestone columns. The exceptional chef's kitchen has three skylights and a stone center island. It is also designed with lacquer cabinetry and is equipped with high-end appliances.
There is also an impressive carved oak staircase which leads to the upper level library and media room that has a wood burning fireplace. It is also filled with custom built-in bookshelves and doors which open to the wraparound terrace where one can enjoy the view of Central Park. On the same level, there is also a kitchenette and a powder room.
Mellon is now heading her own fashion label, but she filed for bankruptcy in late 2015. She was bailed out by a private equity investment in early 2016 while she maintained her permanent residence in London.
