With the relative success of Microsoft's laptop and tablet in one, the Surface Pro 3, rumors are already going around that its successor is set to hit the market soon. The Surface Pro 4 is purportedly outfitted with better and new internal and external features that would catapult the "laplet" into game changer status once it comes out.
One major upgrade going around the rumor mill is a bigger RAM size for the fourth-generation Surface Pro. Android Origin reported that as much as 16GB RAM is being considered for the device. With this double RAM size from its predecessor, the Pro 4 would have quicker speed, which is a huge consideration for many buyers. Aside from that, another supposed upgraded feature of the upcoming device is its processor. The Surface Pro 3 used Intel i core for its system, but the Pro 4 could possibly jump to Intel Xeon, also called Intel E7, which is better than the i7 in terms of performance and carries new technology. On the other hand, Tweaktown reported that others place the new Pro 4's processor to utilize Intel M core instead of the E7. This would allow the device to cool faster and takes out the need for cooling fans for overheatings.
On the external side, another talk has been going on that the upcoming fourth-generation laplet from Microsoft will come out in two sizes. The two sizes are pegged to be at 8-inches and 14-inches, detailed by Master Herald. The difference in sizes would give users the option to customize their feel of the laplet with the smaller size for a more compact feel and the bigger one would take on the features of a laptop.
While its precursor, the Surface Pro 3, was installed with Windows 8.1 during its release in May 2014, the Pro 4 is rumored to come out already outfitted with Windows 10 as its expected date of release is by the latter half of 2015 until early 2016. For the moment, engineers at Microsoft are still finishing Windows 10 but as the company has been rearing to roll it out for a lot of devices, reports say that it's first official release in a Windows device would be with the Pro 4.
Due to its upgraded features, many expect that the new device will put a heavy dent on the pocket. And if the report by The Fuse Joplin is to be believed, it will as the price range could go between $1,000 to 2,000. However, developers of the device were quick to give the rationale behind the supposed price mark, that the upcoming Pro 4 would be a very "competent tablet-pc fusion." It remains to be seen if Microsoft will do well with its promise when the device finally comes out.
