2015 Movie Releases: 5 Films to Watch Out For

2015 is looking to be a big year for Hollywood, fans and moviegoers as the film industry is awaiting the release of some highly anticipated films, International Business Times reported.

The year 2014 is drawing to a close, and with a new year looming comes a slew of new movies. Here are just five of the films fans and moviegoers will definitely have to mark their calendars for come 2015.

1. "Avengers: Age of Ultron"

Marvel is coming out with more than just one film this year with "Ant-Man" also joining in the fray, but none is as highly anticipated as the climax of Marvel's Phase 2. In the sequel film, the Avengers will have to face the threat of the genocidal Ultron, who is looking to destroy the entire human race.

The official synopsis was released by Marvel, according to Collider, and stated:

"When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure."

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will hit theaters on May 1, 2015. For now, fans can get a sneak peek thanks to the trailer released by Marvel.

2. "Spectre"

The twenty-fourth Bond film was officially announced in early December and will see the return of Daniel Craig as the film's super spy hero James Bond. Craig will be joined by returning cast members Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes and more in facing off against the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion or Spectre

Sony also released a teaser statement on "Spectre" to entice fans, according to Sydney Morning Herald.

"A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre."

Production on the film is currently ongoing and a trailer is still being waited on, but Bond fans and interested viewers can catch the film on its official release on Nov. 6, 2015.

3. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2"

Many are awaiting the fate of District 13 winners Katniss, who is set to become the face of the revolution, and Peeta, who was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Capitol.

Those who have read the books know how things will turn for the pair, according to Vanity Fair and Bustle. Peter will eventually be freed from his "hijacking" by the Capitol, but will continue to face the effects of his condition as he is sent out into battle with Katniss. Katniss on the other hand, will end up going head to head with the Capitol and hopefully take President Snow down once and for all.

The novel ends happily with the pair continuing to recover from the war but having children of their own. However, the movie may or may not follow the same thread given its predictably. So for now fans will just have to wait to see how the movie will pan out.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" has yet to release an official trailer. However, fans should set the date for the show's theatrical run on Nov. 20, 2015.

4. "Jurassic World"

The fourth film of the science fiction adventure monster film stars the dinosaurs back in action, but this time as part of a fully operational theme park, according to Movie News Guide.

The film, which is set 22 years after the original "Jurassic Park" film, returns to the Isla Nubar. It stars Chris Pratt as Owens, a behavioral scientist, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire, a geneticist and the manager of the park. However, as expected of a Jurassic film, the dinosaurs run rampant on the island endangering the people of the park.
