'LG G4' Release Date, Review & News: New Smartphone Arriving Soon [Rumors]

The LG G3 has been one of the silent victories of 2014. Aside from the standout devices released by Apple-Samsung rivals, the G3 sported impressive specs that made it one of the best Androids in the market.

A number of sources indicate that the next generation G series, the LG G4, will be competing with Samsung's Galaxy Note line.

Gotta Be Mobile reported that sources have claimed that the LG G4 will be released sometime in early 2015, possibly earlier than May, the month that the G3 was launched.

Specs and Features

It's being reported that the over-sized smartphone will be sporting a stylus to improve productivity and increase its market interest from not only Galaxy S users but Note users as well.

Other rumors circulating regarding the expected specs on the smartphone include a 5.3-inch Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440) screen, narrow-frame design, 8-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM (possibly 4GB), 32/64GB storage and micro-SD support, 20-MP camera, 3500 mAh battery and a Built-in stylus.

GSM Arena recalled LG's move to file for a trademark for the "LG G Pen" earlier this month making it a high possibility that they'll be offering a stylus similar to the Samsung S Pen for enhanced multitasking functions.

Additionally, the LG G4 is expected to run on Google's newest platform, the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Release Date

Many are pegging the debut of the device to be during the 2015 Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona, Spain from Mar. 2-5, 2015. While the G3 was introduced during the end of May this year, Digital Trends notes that the company may be forced to release the device earlier should Samsung opt to launch the Galaxy S6 early this year.

Price Details

Per LG G4 Info, it's estimated that contract-accompanied phones would begin at $299 on launch day and range from $800 - 900 for non-contract devices.

In another report, with the large screen size, similar to that of the Galaxy Note series and newly released iPhone 6 Plus, Digital Trends says it's possible that LG will discontinue its G Pro series and focus on releasing an impressive G4 device.

Presently, the LG G3 has the following specs: a stunning 5.5 Inch, Quad HD 2,560 x 1,440 resolution display, 13-MP rear camera with 2.1 front cam, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 32 GB built-in storage and 2000 mAh capacity.
